Let’s be frank: some degree of body hair removal is seen by many as simply good grooming. Spa Villa recommends waxing, because it’s easier on your skin and nerve endings than shaving or depilatories, minimizing red bumps and irritations.

The Waxing Process

Warm wax is applied to hair and hair is removed from the root. At Spa Villa, we only use a hard wax for face, underarm, and bikini waxing, which is best for those sensitive areas. This makes for a more comfortable experience for our guests.  A soft wax (needs to be removed with a strip of cloth) is used for larger areas such as legs, back, etc. We have internationally-trained wax educators who have trained all of our waxing specialists.

Discomfort varies widely and we will gladly do a test strip for those interested.

What’s the difference between a Bikini, Brazilian, and Sphynx wax?

Bikini Wax

Bikini waxing refers to the removal of hair beyond the bikini line, a euphemistic term to describe pubic hair visible beyond a typical bikini swimsuit.

Ideally bikini waxing should be done every four weeks year-round. Over time hair becomes weaker and grows more slowly leading to less frequent waxing.

Brazilian Wax

Brazilian waxing refers to removal of the majority of hair. Brazilian waxes often leave a small strip, triangle or oval shape piece of hair in the front, while taking all the hair in between all the way to the back by your bum.

Sphynx Wax

The Sphynx removes all hair from the pubic area, labia, buttocks, and perianal areas.
